Gloria J. Lathen was born in Alexandria, LA. In 1998 Gloria graduated from Jr. College with an Associates of Arts Degree. Because of her determination to succeed in 2005 she enrolled in New college of CA, In August of 2006 she graduated with a degree in Humanities & Leadership with an emphasis in counseling. Gloria uses her major in writing poetry to motivate, stimulate, and cultivate people to move beyond the ordinary and go for the extra-ordinary.

Gloria have written poetry and recited in Churches, Cafes, funerals, weddings, and written poetry for newsletters.

What make her poetry unique is the heartfelt experiences of real life she places into each of her written poems, which is a testament of her spiritual growth through her personal relationship with God. She often says to her audience "You must persevere no matter what may come your way".

This book of poems is a vent for my life trials; I thank God for allowing me to speak directly from my heart.  The purpose of this book is to help heal hurting hearts.

What makes this book one of kind is the time and effort I put into it.  I am giving you what God gave me; so you and others could be helped in every shape, form and fashion.

Gloria Lathen have been writing for 7 years, she states: Poetry is her passion". She has recited her poetry in churches, cafes, funerals, weddings and written personal poems as well as for the church Newsletters.

She lives in Richmond, CA with her husband and their children.

Gloria Lathen is now working on her 2nd book "A Wiser Woman".
